I'm in a 'consume everything that involves Michael Sheen or David Tennant' phase because I got a *little* obsessed with the Good Omens series. I have a podcast recommendation for each of them!
Podcast: Michael Sheen: Margins to Mainstream
Why I recommend it:
In 2021, while everyone was challenged by the lockdowns, the Welsh actor Michael Sheen helped start an organization called A Writing Chance. The idea was to give financial support and a platform to marginalized writers — chronically ill people, LGBTQ+ people, neurodivergent people, etc. — writers who have a hard time getting traction for their work.
The episodes are hosted by Michael Sheen. And I gotta say, I wish everything was hosted and narrated by Michael Sheen. What a voice! He does a little setup about the writer, and we hear the writer's voice to share the background for their work. Then the story is performed by an actor — sometimes it's Michael, and sometimes others. It's the perfect combination of behind-the-scenes info and a short story you probably wouldn't find otherwise. Each episode clocks in at right around half an hour.
Why I recommend it: David Tennant is ridiculously charming and self-effacing for an actor who's so successful. I'm generally weary of celebrity interviews, but his conversations with his guests tend to delve into their craft, rather than the world of entertainment or promoting a specific project. He's a very good listener which leads to great follow-up questions. I find the conversations really entertaining and inspiring, which is a nice combo.
If you're looking for career inspiration, I'd recommend listening to Too Long; Don't Listen where Is it with entrepreneurs, artists, authors, singers... to discuss their career path. A range of stories to support you in navigating your career: https://pod.link/1640981588 :)
Yes, I heard this one "Se regalan dudas": Propositos realistas para el 2024. I love this podcast because it discusses topics from real life. This one in specific helped me identify some goals for 2024 (https://youtu.be/oSPu0NeHkkQ?si=ToTLwDy35cHNF6pi)
Why do you recommend it: 2024 is a BIG election year for the world and especially for the United States. This will become your go-to podcast to understanding the history and dynamics in the South which will heavily influence what's to come.
Levine Museum of the New South (Charlotte, NC) presents an original scripted non-fiction storytelling podcast hosted by journalist Kevin Blackistone and professor of history Robert Greene II who set out to discover the historical background on key societal issues in the south, providing a framework to understand the path forward. The show investigates how we got here, fostering conversations with changemakers seeking to make a difference in the South in order to educate, and provide an opportunity for understanding to inform our collective future.
Not only have I listened to several podcasts this year, I'm on pace to listen to more than I ever have in a calendar year. We're out here setting records!
Evan Stern from Vanishing Postcards recommended In Plain Signt Ladybird Johnson which has turned out to be a phenomenal companion to Who Killed JFK?
It’s incredible to learn so much about the near history of our country that feels so far away
Evan rocks. Will share this soon!

The Neil Gaiman episode is a solid place to start — https://pod.link/tennant/episode/efa01ae9b772542b52a7ef39e1f56854 — but Judy Dench or Olivia Colman are also good contenders.
THANK YOU. This rocks.
