Podcast: MASKulinity Podcast
Why do you recommend it: This is a shameless plug for my podcast that I cohost with my friend, Remoy Philip. We explore how gender expectations lead to men "performing masculinity" and how that impacts them in different aspects of their lives. We have fun with the show formats, sometimes about music or movies, and sometimes about literature, but the episodes are mostly me catching Remoy up on what's happening in the world since he lives in a bubble of literature and real-life relationships, AWAY from screens. I tend to doomscroll and keep up on pop culture and political happenings, and we look at how patriarchy informs so much of it, usually with awesome guests who share their expertise and experience on a given topic at the intersection of masculinity. We try to make this complicated topic fun and light to listen to!
Separately, I enjoyed the Dream Blunt Rotation episode of Indecent with Kiki Andersen. It featured important reminders of how big pharma are much bigger and badder drug dealers than illegal narcotic traffickers could ever hope to be.

Podcast: The Nightingale of Iran
Why do you recommend it: I'm recommending the brand new show, The Nightingale of Iran. It's a documentary series created and hosted by sisters Danielle and Galeet Dardashti.
The sisters set out to uncover a decades-old mystery of why their famous Iranian Jewish relatives left Iran at the height of their fame and take us along for the journey. It's a musically rich show that transports us into their lives today and explores the history of shared culture between Jews and Muslims in a refreshing way. Part mystery, part music history, it's a show that pulls you into the story and makes you wish all six episodes were already out.

Why you recommend it: I'm recommending BEEF because I'm so excited for season 2 to come out.
You might know Bridget Todd, host of the popular podcast There Are No Girls On The Internet. I'd be surprised if you don't! She is now back with a new season of her other hit podcast, BEEF. The podcast is a funny yet educational look at rivalries across industries and time to get to the heart of what comes before, during, and after two entities go after each other with all their might.

ofPodcast: Lowlines
Why you recommend it: I want to SUPER recommend Lowlines to your readers!
Have you been wondering how the hell we got here? Going from one efficiently digitized moment to the next, waiting for the next ping, the next dopamine burst. I know I have! And Petra Barran was wondering the same thing. She took it one step further, or rather, one step lower, for her new podcast, Lowlines. Lowlines is a 100% independent, 100% audio production. The six-part sonic scrapbook follows one woman’s pull to tune in to the pulse of place. Armed with just a recorder and without any plan or script, Petra set out to get closer to the ground, befriending strangers along the way. From a 36-hour Amtrak journey from New Orleans to Tucson, condensed into 36 minutes to a brutalizing ayahuasca retreat hosted by a radically honest shamanic apprentice in Peru, Lowlines is one woman’s journey that she invites us all to vicariously participate in.

Hi Arielle, thanks for helping the podcast community. I just shared some of the podcast you recommended. I'd like to recommend "A Cada Paso," a bilingual podcast (English/Spanish). The host engages with quiet achievers, individuals who may not be widely known but are making significant impacts in their communities. What I love about the podcast is its ability to highlight individuals making a difference in their communities, proving that impactful contributions can come from those around us, even without widespread fame

Show: How My View Grew - https://pod.link/1731021662
Very excited for this new show to launch! The premise of hearing conversations with people who were open enough to change their perspective and be challenged got me curious. I'm sure that Amiel's expertise mixed with his upcoming guests' experiences will make for great conversation, especially in the context of this important election year.
Here's the description to give you more insight: If you’re weary of political polarization, nothing is more refreshing than nuanced thinking: ideas that reveal the complexity of what’s wrong in the world and how to make it better. But where does such thinking come from? Often, it’s from someone changing their mind—letting go of an old perspective and growing into a new one. Join executive coach Amiel Handelsman as he interviews nuanced thinkers about the origin stories of their big ideas. Each story offers a window into one of humanity’s greatest challenges like climate change, democracy, the culture wars, the wealth gap, Ukraine, and Israel. In weeks between interviews, Amiel offers tips for training your mind to navigate complex topics and difficult conversations.
